Equitable and Attainable Growth in Chaffee County

The renders below were created to illustrate the studio’s final recommendations, including recreational, educational, vocational, and residential uses that complemented the existing agricultural and Fairgrounds uses.

Chaffee County, Colorado is experiencing some of the highest rates of growth in the state. This CU Denver studio class studied existing housing in the county, as well as explored potential additional uses for the Chaffee County Fairgrounds and an adjoining parcel of underutilized land.

A combination of Sketchup, Procreate, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Fotosketcher, and Google Earth created renders that provided context and clarity for recommendations that were hard to visualize otherwise.

The proposed heritage trail, Colorado State Extension Spur Campus, event spaces, and educational facilities proposed for the site, looking west.

A view of the cattle grazing and trail space, agrivoltaics, RV park, and Fairgrounds, looking southeast.
